Oh! Pretty Ribbons!

Oh Annie, how I love pretty ribbons!

Recently I pleasantly discovered the website of Silk and Willow. OMG, my heart stopped. Shellie Pomeroy, owner/artist, hand-dyes silk ribbon with plant material to create absolute visual Heaven!  What I love about the ribbon is the subtle variation in color – it is organic and honest.

Below is just a sampling of Shellie’s product. I have provided links to her FB, website and Pinterest board. Enjoy!

 Wow!

Decor – Paper Flowers

Perhaps it’s the florist in me but I enjoy the over-sized paper flowers. They are loads of visual fun and oddly look real. Once we choose our venue for Annie’s wedding, I’m secretly hoping she will let Auntie Kate incorporate the over-sized lovelies somewhere.

Love the idea of taking your vows within large flowers sprouting up and around the couple.

These paper flowers are a bit smaller than the above photos but their application on a paper lantern certainly makes a big visual impact. I’m loving this idea… it’s an inexpensive fix to what would have been a very ho-hum lantern.

I will definitely be scouting for a vacant wall…

Oh! My heart just stopped. Now that’s a grand staircase. The guests would be talking about this entrance for years to come…

Cake Toppers – Non Floral

I naturally gravitate to fresh flowers since I’ve been a wedding florist for the past ten years. But after a bit of Pinterest exploration, I could definitely be talked into non-florals. The added bonus is that a non-floral cake topper is a wonderful memento. New today but an heirloom tomorrow. I don’t know how many times I’ve gingerly guarded a family heirloom until it was safely placed on the cake.

Classic fairytale words…

Already vintage.  I’ve got a collection of these and enjoy imagining some happy couple’s day…

Handmade banner… These are actually time-consuming to make. I know because I made one for my twins 4th birthday. And of course I wanted it double-sided…
